Dobson workshop description (2020 symposium)

Startups in the Life Sciences

Workshop presenter: Michaela Deneva (Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship, McGill University)

The path from research to entrepreneurship: How can we bridge the gap between research and the industry and why is it of essential importance to have researchers involved in the entrepreneurial world? This interactive workshop will dive into the topic of pitching, in particular how to best communicate scientific research to different types of audience, and build a business-focused value proposition. We will look at examples of do’s and don’ts of pitching and the best strategies for translating scientific value into business terms. The goal is that at the end of the session each participant will be able to deliver an “elevator pitch” for their current research.
